Donelle Wiechman joins our team as our new Sacraments Manager!
Where are you from?
All over - I was born in Wisconsin. I went to high school in Midland, Tx, college at Texas A&M, started my 1st career in the Houston area, and moved to the Dallas area about 19 years ago. My husband and I moved to Frisco about a year ago.
What were you doing before you started working at St. Francis?
I worked as a high school math teacher for about 13 years. I have been tutoring math the last two years.
What is your favorite dessert?
I love pie. My favorite is cherry or key lime.
What are your hobbies?
I love to travel, cook for my family, scrapbook, Rangers baseball, and visiting with friends and family.
If you could have dinner with one person, dead or alive, who would it be?
St. Teresa of Calcutta - I love her beautiful humanity. She was so humble, so loving, so generous, and so honest about her struggles.
Who is your favorite saint?
That is a difficult question. It has changed over the years. I was confirmed as St. Catherine of Sienna, I really respected her study and knowledge of the Church. When my children were young, my grandmother gave me a prayer card of St. Gerard and I felt a special closeness to him. More recently, I have been learning more about St. Teresa of Calcutta.
What is your favorite form of prayer?
I don't have one favorite. It depends what I am feeling in my heart, what is going on around me, and what our needs are.
Do you have a favorite quote or bible verse?
I love the song, "Be Not Afraid."
What made you want to work for the Church?
The sacraments are such a beautiful gift of grace from God and I love the work of helping our community prepare for the sacraments. I enjoy talking with couples about the marriage preparation process and assisting with their preparation for the sacrament.
What excites you the most about being on staff?
I am inspired by the love of God and the love for the community that I see in the staff.
