Origen 4 Reasons for the Incarnation Do you know why Jesus Christ became man? Here are four reasons why as Catholics we believe this. They are found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. 1. The Word became flesh for us in order to save us by reconciling us with God, who "loved us and sent his Son to be the expiation for our sins" (CCC 457). 2. The Word became flesh so that thus we might know God's love: "In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him." (CCC 458). 3. The Word became flesh to be our model of holiness: "Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me." "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but by me" (CCC 459). 4. The Word became flesh to make us "partakers of the divine nature"..."For this is why the Word became man, and the Son of God became the Son of man: so that man, by entering into communion with the Word and thus receiving divine sonship, might become a son of God." (CCC 460). VBS 2025 - True North: Trusting Jesus in a Wild World We are excited to begin our trek into the Alaskan wilderness for VBS 2025 (English), happening June 9–13! Welcome to Totally Catholic, True North VBS—the ultimate summer adventure where kids will journey through the breathtaking beauty of Alaska. Picture northern lights dancing above majestic mountains, racing rivers, and shimmering glaciers. As kids trek across the tundra, they’ll discover how easy it is to lose sight of truth in today’s wild world. Together, we’ll guide them toward Jesus, showing them that He is our faithful friend - our True North- who we can always trust. Each day, kids will rotate through engaging, field-tested activities that bring to life key teachings from Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition. Parents can look forward to a week filled with faith discoveries, unforgettable music, and epic adventures! Volunteer Information VBS is a fun and important part of our catechetical mission at St. Francis but we cannot offer this wonderful program without the help of dedicated 5 day Adult & Teen volunteers who would like to help children learn about Jesus in such an exciting way. La Misa Ad Orientem, Novus Ordo en latín es una opción más. El Vaticano II otorgó a la Iglesia el Novus Ordo, o nuevo orden de la Misa. Este permite que la Misa se celebre en el idioma local en lugar del latín, como se hacía anteriormente. Sin embargo, el latín sigue siendo el idioma oficial de la Iglesia, como lo ha sido durante más de dieciséis siglos. Honramos la intención del Vaticano II de promover una mayor participación y diálogo entre los fieles en la Misa, incluyendo las lecturas, la homilía y las oraciones de los fieles en inglés. Origin First Communion Grades 2-5 *If your child has not received the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact our RCIA program. To prepare your child for First Reconciliation & First Communion: 1 Register your child for Origin Kids Begin by registering your child for Origin Kids (choose between attending the Sunday OR Wednesday sessions throughout the year). Your child is at least 7 years old and is in the 2nd grade (or grades above) Your child has some understanding of the difference between right and wrong. Your child is learning to know the difference between sins, accidents or mistakes. Your child is capable of apologizing. Your child has a relationship with Jesus and basic understanding that He died on the cross for our sins and rose from the dead. Your child is beginning to know God as a loving Father who forgives us. Your child can (for the most part) pay attention at weekly Sunday Mass. Your child has some appreciation that God works through miracles. Your child shows curiosity about the Eucharist.
